Firozabad District in Uttar Pradesh has a total area of 2,362 sq km. In ancient times, it was known as Chandwar Nagar and was renamed Firozabad by emperor Akbar. Firozabad is bounded by Etah District in the north and Mainpuri District and Etawah District in the east, and the Yamuna in the south. The district headquarters is at Firozabad.

Firozabad is nicknamed 'Suhag Nagri' because it manufactures bangles, karas, kangans and other items necessary for suhagins (married women). Winters are severe in Firozabad District.

Agriculture and industry form the backbone of the economy. Maize, moong, masoor, gram, mustard and potato are the main agricultural produce. There are a number of glass industries manufacturing different types of glass products and these are also exported to different countries.
