Kishanpur Sanctuary




Established in 1972, Kishanpur Sanctuary, on the banks of the Sharda River, is located 30 km from Dudwa in Kheri District, Uttar Pradesh. It is spread over an area of 227 sq km. The main inhabitants are tiger, leopard, swamp deer, hornbill, jungle fowl, peafowl, partridge, woodpecker, duck, geese and fishing eagle.

Accommodation facilities are available at forest rest houses in Kishanpur, Bhira, and Mailani.

The nearest railhead is at Mailani (3 km), which is situated on the North Eastern railway's meter gauge section. Mailani is 200 km from Lucknow. Bus services are available from Bareilly and Lakhimpur to reach the sanctuary.
