Headquarters of
Sant Kabir Nagar District in
Uttar Pradesh, Khalilabad lies on the Faizabad-Gorakhpur road and is around 50 km west of
Gorakhpur. The place got its name from its founder, Qazi Khailil-ur-Rahman, who was appointed chakladar of Gorakhpur about 1860 AD.
Bardahia Bazar, famous for handlooms, is the prime attraction of Khalilabad. The tahsil building, situated south of the road to Gorakhpur, is an imposing structure built after the Mutiny of 1857.
Nearest airport is at Lucknow. Khalilabad Railway Station is on the Gorakhpur-
Basti line.
