Hathras District of
Uttar Pradesh is spread over an area of 1,752 sq km. The headquarters is located at
Hathras, about 53 km from Agra. The Karban and Sengar are two important rivers. Many archeological items of Hindu, Buddhist, Jain culture and also of the Kushan period were excavated at many places in Hathras.
The economy depends mostly on agriculture and industry. There are a number of manufacturing units of readymade garments, chemicals, carpet, brass, art-ware and hardware, edible oil, beverage, and medicine. The agricultural produce includes dhan, jawar and bajara.
Temple of Shri Dauji Maharaj, Raja Dayaram fort at Hathras, Lord Veereshwar Mahadev temple, and Mahakali Temple are some of the places of interest.
