Jaunpur is famous for its dripping spiral sweets called Imartis. This spiral-shaped sweet is made of piped-out fermented urad dal (skinned black gram) batter. It is later fried and soaked in sweet saffron colored syrup. Although it may appear to belong to the Jalebi family, it is quite different and distinct in its unique fragrance.
