Bansgaon

Bansgaon is a taluk headquarters of Gorakhpur District. It is situated near the Ami valley. The place was formerly occupied by Chauhans, who were thrown out by the Sarnets. Even today, they celebrate their victory over the Chauhans by offering sacrifice at the ancient shrine of the goddess in the month of Ashvina.

Ancient mounds of Chadihar and Narhan, near Bansgaon, protected by the Directorate of Archeology, Uttar Pradesh are significant. A dharamshala, a veterinary hospital, a police station, a post office and child welfare center are all features of this town.
