Kabirdas was a great saint poet of
Varanasi who preached the oneness of God and humanity as well as Hindu-Muslim unity. A disciple of Swami Ramananda, Kabir is regarded as one of the pioneers of
Hindi literature. He wrote a number of devotional verses, which were compiled into 'Kabir Granthavali'. His works were later translated into
Bengali and English. A number of his verses are recorded in Guru Granth Sahib.
