Shahjahanpur is an industrial town in
Uttar Pradesh, located south-east of
Bareilly. The town was founded in 1647 and named after
Mughal Emperor
Shah Jahan. Post-independence, the town developed into an agricultural trade centre.
Today, Shahjahanpur has industries such as carpet weaving, distilling and sugar mills. The main attraction of Shahjahanpur is a gold market located at the heart of the town.
