Sati Anasuya




Sati Anasuya is located further up-stream from Janaki Kund, amid thick forests, about 16 km from Chitrakut, Uttar Pradesh. It is considered as the place where Atri Muni and his wife, Anasuya, had their ashram with their three sons, who were believed to be incarnations of Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva.

The Mandakini River lies close to this place, is believed to be have been created by Anasuya through her meditation. A delightful shrine situated here enshrines an image of Anusuya swinging her three babies. The temple features exquisite statues, depicting the story of Atri Muni and Anusuya.

Sati Anusuya can be accessed by road through an undulating, curving drive through densely wooded areas.
