Ahraura is a small town in
Mirzapur District of
Uttar Pradesh. Ahraura is 40 km south-west of
Varanasi.
This little town was blessed by the visit of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib, the ninth guru of the Sikhs. To preserve the memory of the visit of the guru a Gurdwara, Gurdwara Bagh Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji Ka, has been built here. The Gurdwara holds a Nivas Asthan (means the place of residence), where the guru had stayed during his visit.
Lakhania Dari Waterfall and Chuna Dari, an enchanting place famous for rock paintings, are some of the nearby tourist destinations. The temple dedicated to Bhandari Devi, which is of great historical importance, is situated 25 km away.
Nearest airport is at Varanasi. Ahraura Road Railway Station is a prominent railhead of Mirzapur District.
