Jaswantnagar is one of the fast developing towns in
Etawah District. It is on the road from
Agra to
Etawah, about 16 km north-west of Etawah. Jaswantnagarcovers an area of 2.59 sq km of land and has a population of 11,295. It is one of the trading hubs of western
Uttar Pradesh and a leading center of handloom cloth.
To the west of the town, on the south side of the Agra road is a small temple of historical importance. It was here that on 19th May, 1857, a battle took place between the Indian freedom fighters and the British forces. Another attraction in the town is a fine masonry tank with a temple and bathing ghats, towards the south-east corner of the town, on the bank of the Sarsa River.
Jaswantnagar Railway Station falls on the Delhi-Mughal Sarai main line. Jaswantnagar Bus Station connects the town with Bhadan, Barnahal, Kachaura, Etawah, Kurra Jarawan and Udi. Nearest airport is Agra Civil Enclaves.
