Sonamura is a major town in
West Tripura District of
Tripura. It is on the border of Bangladesh and is around 39 km from
Udaipur.
Sari Dance is a major artform of this region. Many handloom weaving centers are located here. The place is also a major production center of silver jewelry. Gomati River flows through Sonamura.
This town is 8 km south of Rudrasagar Lake Island, where Neermahal Palace is located, and 8 km from Boxnagar (famous for a Buddhist temple). Trishna Wildlife Sanctuary is another attraction nearby. Melaghar is 7 km away.
