Sri Radhika Ramana Baktha Kolahalan Temple




Sri Radhika Ramana Baktha Kolahalan Temple is located at Paranur in Viluppuram District. Lord Krishna is worshipped here as Baktha Kolahan.

Here, Lord is in his famous posture that of playing on his flute and standing near a cow. He wears a Thribangi and Radha is seen along with him. Along the right side of Kolahalan shrine, is the Vaishnava mandapam where the Adhyayana utsavam or Keerthanavalli utsavam takes place. Another small mandapam called Vasantha mandapam, supported by four pillars, is the place where important functions such as Rathotsavam, Nandothsavam and Thirukalyanam starts.

Above this mandapam, one can see a beautiful idol of Lord Krishna with a flute in his hands along with Radha Devi near him who is holding a lotus flower in her hand. A cow is grazing behind them and a peacock is seen watching them. The vimana of the temple is in the shape of the Govardhan Mountain. It contains a brass Kalasam at the top. The walls of the temple are inscribed with the slogans of Sri Baktha Kolahala Sthothram. Padmasaras, the holy pond, lies near the temple. Nandavanam, a beautiful garden, is also seen in the temple premises.
