Parikkal




Parikkal is 23 km from Viluppuram . The place is situated between two rivers, Thenpennai and Garuda. According to a legend, Lord Vishnu destroyed a demon known as Parakalasuran here to save his devotees and hence the place came to be known as Parikkal.

Parikkal Narasimha Temple is situated at the heart of the village. It is also said that in order to appease the Lord Narasimha, Goddess Lakshmi embraced him and thus Parikkal gained its name.

Parikkal Railway Station is on the Virudhachalam-Viluppuram line. Buses from Panruti, Ulundurpet and Viluppuram pass through Parikkal.
