Vanur is a
taluk located in
Viluppuram District,
Tamil Nadu. The place is a contiguous watershed, bounded in the north by Kaluveli Tank, in the east by Bay of Bengal, in the south by Pondicherry and in the west by the Ousteri Lake.
Vanur comprises 107 villages including 64 village panchayats and one town panchayat. There are 98 public schools, 3 public health centres and 29 health subcentres. The main occupation of the people is agriculture and major crops produced are cashew, casuarina, sugar cane, rice and flowers.
