A small village located in
Vellore District, Melpadi has great historical and archeological importance. Earlier, it was part of the
Chola and Rashtrakuta kingdoms. Pallippadai temple is an important landmark in Melpadi Village. The temple was built in 1014 by Chola Raja Raja I over the mortal remains of Chola Arinjaya. The temple houses many Tamil inscriptions containing details of grants of land made for the maintenance of the temple. Melpadi is an interesting site for tourists and archeologists.
