Thiruverkadu




An area east of Chennai, Thiruverkadu is dotted with temples and is also a religious center.

The place is regarded as one of the 32 Divya Kshetras of Lord Shiva in the erstwhile Thondai Mandalam (present districts of Kanchipuram and Vellore). This small settlement is famous for the ancient Vedhapureeswarar Temple and Sri Karumari Amman Temple.

Thiruverkadu is also known as ‘Vadavedharanyam’ (North Vedharanyam). It is believed that Lord Vedhapureeswarar appeared here with his consort Balambigai.

The nearest airport is at Chennai. Chennai Central Railway Station is the nearest railhead. Thiruverkadu is well connected by bus service with Chennai city.
