One of the prime commercial and residential location in Chennai , T Nagar is located in the heart of the city and is a kilometer south of Nungambakkam. Anna Salai, Kodambakkam, Saidapet, West Mambalam and Kotturpuram are a stone’s throw away. Largely a commercial area, it houses Ranganathan Street, one of the most popular shopping centres for the residents of Chennai. Pondy Bazaar is another shopper's paradise located here.

Siva Vishnu Temple and Jain Temple made of lime-and-soapstone and marble are some of the temples located here.

The nearest railhead and bus terminal are Mambalam Railway Station and T Nagar Bus Depot respectively. Chennai International Airport is around 13 km south-west. Chennai Central Railway Station is 7 km north-east.
