Sage Vasishta was a celeberated Vedic sage and the
Guru of
Ram and Harishchandra. He was addressed 'Kulapati' as he was a preceptor as well as a guide to thousands of followers. It is believed that he was born as the result of Lord Brahma’s will-power.
Lord Indra, happy with Vasishta’s rigorous tapas, gifted him the mythical cow, Nandini.
