Shri Ranganathasamy Temple is located near the Srirangam railway station (10km from
Tiruchirapalli ) in
Tiruchirapalli District. The seven walls of the temple represent the seven worlds. Out of the seven walls, the 7th wall, 3072 ft in length and 2521 ft in breadth is a prime attraction. Spread over an area of 6 miles, the temple is dedicated to Lord Shri Ranganathaswamy. With 21 gopurams, each weighing 24,800 tons, the temple houses the biggest gopuram in the Asian sub continent called
Raja Gopuram. This gopuram is 236 ft in height and has 13 floors. The temple complex has marvelous carvings and well preserved painted walls. Shri Ranganathasamy Temple, the architectural marvel, is one of the 108 prominent pilgrimage centers in India.
