Rasipuram is a
taluk headquarters town situated in the
Namakkal District of
Tamil Nadu. It is around 35 km from
Salem. Textile industry, transport industry, poultry units and sago and starch industry are the major industries in this town. The main crops are paddy, jowar, tapioca, sugarcane, groundnut and cotton.
There is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and a Mariamman Temple. The 21 day Mariamman festival held in the Mariamman Temple is a major draw. Fire walk is a popular event associated with the festival and hundreds of people gather to witness the occasion.
Rasipuram is well-connected with other parts of the state by road. Salem Airport and Salem Junction Railway Station are the nearest airport and railhead respectively.
