Ranganatha Temple is situated at
Singavaram which is just 2.5 km from the Gingee town, in
Viluppuram District. This rock cut temple is situated on top of a hill 150 foot high. The temple is also known as Adhi Varaha temple as
Lord Vishnu took the varaha avathar at this place. The temple has a 24 foot high idol carved out of a single rock. Evidences reveal that the gopuram and mantapams were constructed by Thubaki Krishnappa Nayak of the Vijayanagar period. The deity of the temple is Sri Ranganatha in a straight reclining posture (sleeping on a serpent). There is a secret passage from the temple to the
Gingee Fort. The temple also has rare collections of panchaloha idols.
