Poovalur is situated on
Tiruchirapalli-
Ariyalur road near Lalgudi and is 20 km from Tiruchirapalli.
It is said that Manmathan (God of love) got back his life at this place. Hence, this place is called as Poovaliyur and later renamed as Poovalur.
The place is famous for the Thirumoolanather Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva.
