Pazhamuthircholai




Pazhamuthircholai is a famous pilgrim site located 20 km north of Madurai, in Tamil Nadu. It has been declared one among the six holy abodes of Lord Muruga in the state by the Tamil poet Nakeerar in his late Sangam period classic, Tirumurugatrupadai. Pazhamuthircholai is about 35 km north-west of Melur.

Pazhamuthircholai Murugan Temple and Rakkayi Amman Temple, situated near the perennial waterfall Noopura Ganga atop a hill, are the major shrines in Pazhamuthircholai.

Nearest airport is at Madurai. Madurai Junction Railway Station serves Pazhamuthircholai. Regular buses ply between Madurai Central Bus Station and Pazhamuthircholai.
