Naavaleswarar Temple




Naavaleswarar Temple is an ancient temple located at Tirunavalur in Cuddalore District, Tamil Nadu. The place is also known as Tirunamanallur. At the entrance of the temple is the five tiered Rajagopuram. The temple has a shrine for Sundaramurthy Nayanar, Varadaraja Perumal and Ambal Sundaranayaki. Images of Natarajar, Bhikshatanar and Sundaramoorthy Nayanar are also depicted in the temple. Inscriptions reveal that the sculptural works were done during the Chola period. The Sthala Vriksham (sacred tree) is Naaval maram and the Teerthams are Gomukhi Teertham and Garuda Teertham. The nearest railhead is at Panrutti (16 km).
