Vedaranyam

Vedaranyam, also known as Thirumaraikkadu, is located in Nagapattinam District of Tamil Nadu and is around 58 km south of Nagapattinam.

Lord Shiva gave the darshan of his marriage with Parvati, to Sage Agastya here. It was a center of salt sathyagraha during the freedom movement. It is also the site of Vedavaneshwarar Temple, a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Point Calimere Wildlife and Bird Sanctuary is a nearby attraction.

Nearest airport is at Tiruchirapalli. Vedaranyam Railway Station is on the Tirutturaipundi-Point Calimere line of the southern railway.
