Maruthachalam



Maruthamalai or Maruthachalam is a picturesque hilly area situated about 15 km north-west of Coimbatore, in Tamil Nadu. Bushes and shrubs having medicinal properties are found in plenty here. Maruthamalai is surrounded by marutham trees and is commonly referred to as Maruthachalam by locals.

Saints and holy men are said to come here in search of 'Kayakalpam', the divine medicine for salvation. Kamadhenu, the celestial cow is believed to have grazed in the meadows of this hillock and drunk from the springs under the marutham tree. This hill is a prime attraction among the tourists visiting the Maruthamalai Muruga Temple.

C A Coimbatore Airport and Coimbatore Junction Railway Station are the major access points nearby.
