Mailam is a famous pilgrimage center located about 15 km from
Tindivanam,
Viluppuram District. Historically important, Mailam is believed to have been gifted to
Brahmins in the ancient period.
Subramanya Temple, located on a small hill, is the major point of attraction at Mailam. This temple has two processional chariots, which are used for the main festival of
Brahmotsava. The temple houses the idols of Gajasamharamurti, Kalantaka,
Lord Krishna. Thousands throng Mailam to attend the annual festival of Panguni Uthiram held in March-April.
