Tiruvaiyaru is a town situated about 13 km from
Thanjavur in
Tamil Nadu.
This place is noted for its painting style and veenas. It is the birth place of the Saint
Thyagaraja, a renowned south Indian classical music composer. Here the
Thyagaraja festival is celebrated annually during the month of January. A memorial of the saint is also situated in the town where, once in every year, the Indian musicians gather to sing in praise of his memory. Nearby lies a famous temple called Shri Mata Ganapati.
