Salem, is an ancient temple which dates back to the period of Appar. The temple is also associated with Matsya Muni believed to be a siddha. The streams near the temple are home to numerous fish. A three day annual festival celebrated in the month of
aadi attracts several devotees. This temple has a collection of several fine bronzes and an exquisite chariot.
