Angiras is a character from Indian mythology. He is one of the
Saptarshis, son of
Lord Brahma. His wife is Suroopa. Angiras is the father of
Brihaspati (Jupiter), Utathya, and Samvartana. It is believed that Angiras wrote the first verse of the
Rig Veda dedicated to
Agni the God of fire.
