The Flower Show at
Ooty is part of a century-old tradition. It is conducted for two days in May at the Botanical Garden in Ooty. The first flower show conducted here was in 1896. It was managed by the Nilgiris Agri-Horticultural Society till 1980 when the Government of
Tamil Nadu took over the responsibility. The main objective of the show is to create awareness among horticulturists and farming society, and entertain the tourists who gather here from around the globe. Competitions are conducted in different categories during the show. More than 150 varieties of flowers, both imported and indigenous, are displayed in the Ooty Flower Show.
