Devas

Deva, a word in Hindu mythology, is used to denote a demigod or a minor deity, who is a resident of heaven. Devas, also called 'suras,' are those possessing soma, the wine or ambrosia of heaven. Soma is the panacea of ecstasy, joy and contentment. Lords such as Vayu, Agni , Varuna, Surya, Indra and many more are devas given the status of gods.

In all the myths Devas are the opponents of the asuras. The devas are entitled to take care of the administration of the universe and to make sure that everything within the cosmic manifestation works perfectly. They are responsible for keeping law and order within the universe. Most of these demigods have their individual consorts and personal vehicles.
