Devanathaswamy Temple




Devanathaswamy Temple is about 3 km west of Singaperumal Koil, which is about 48 km to the south of Chennai. The presiding deity, Devanathaswamy, sits facing east. A separate sanctum sanctorum for Lord Ram is seen in this temple. Besides, there are also idols of Varadaraja Perumal (Lord Vishnu), Lord Hayagrivar (the embodiment of knowledge and learning) Thayar, Sridevi, Boodevi and Andal, Sita, Lakshman and Lord Hanuman.

Thiruparvettai is an important festival, celebrated on a Sunday in the month of Thai (Jan 15-Feb 15), every year. Besides, Sri Jayanthi, Special thai velli poojas, Vaikunta Ekadesi Festival, Sri Desikan Sathumurai, Vaigasi magam and Deepa (lights) utsavam are also celebrated.

The temple is open between 08:00 and 11:00 hrs and between 16:00 hrs and 19:00 hrs everyday.

One can reach Singaperumal Koil, by buses coming from Kalpakkam, Madurantakam and Chengalpattu.
