Chakrasana, the wheel posture, is a posture in yoga similar to the gymnastic back-bend. It is so named because the body takes the shape of a circle – or a semi-circle. In this posture the person is lying down, and slowly lifts his body up. This asana should be performed in the morning or afternoon, not in the evening.
Chakrasana energizes the body and stimulates the nervous, endocrine, respiratory and circulatory systems. It helps to strengthen the liver, pancreas and kidneys and strengthens the muscles of the hands and feet.
