Barfi is a very traditional Indian dessert made from boiled milk solids. This milk treat can be made with several ingredients. This sweet is usually served with saffron, vanilla essence, cocoa, and rose water and sometimes garnished with assorted nuts. This after dinner dessert is eaten and served in bite sized pieces. It is also made from khoya (concentrated milk) and is also available in flavors like coconut. It is customary in India to bring a decorative box filled with different kinds of barfi as gift when you visit someone for the first time.
