Arumuga Swami Temple is located at
Tiruttani in
Tiruvallur District,
Tamil Nadu. It dates back more than a thousand years and is near the Sapta Rishi Teertham.
A special Surya Puja is held for three days in March. It is 84 km away from Chennai. On this occasion, the rising sun is believed to worship Lord
Muruga by casting its rays upon the holy feet of the deity on the first day; breast on the second day; and head on the third day through a hole in the wall. The positioning of this hole illustrates the architectural excellence of medieval Tamil Nadu.
