Osprey (Pandion haliaetus) is a migratory bird commonly seen near the seacoast or by large bodies of water. It has white head with speckled crown and black eye-stripe. The body is white with band of buff streaks on upper breast, more visible on female. Flight feathers from below are pale grey, barred overall. The bird grows up to 22 inches in length. Adult female has dark necklace of streaks on throat. It feeds on fresh or salt-water fish.
Osprey can be spotted in the Sunderbans National Park, West Bengal.
