Lachen village is located in
North Sikkim District and is about 26 km from
Chungthang.
Perched at an altitude of about 2,750 m, the village is noted for its pine clad mountains and snow capped peaks. It is also considered as the starting point to some of North Sikkim’s attractive treks. Lachen Monastery, at the top of the village is a focal point of all religious function of the local people. From there one can have an unbroken view of the surrounding regions. The natives of this place are called Lachenpas.
