The Greater Himalayas form the centre of the whole Himalayan mountain system. It lies parallel to the
Shivalik but it has some gaps in its length. Some of the world’s largest peaks such as Mount Everest, Kanchendzonga, Makalu, Nanga Parbat, Nanda Devi, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, and Namche Barwa are located in the Great Himalayas.
