The fort of Chittorgarh encompasses Vijay Stambh, better known by the name 'Tower of victory'. It was built in 1440 AD by Maharana Kumbha. It was constructed to revive the memory of the victory over Mohammed Khilji. It is a 9 storeyed tower with a 37 m high. It is beautifully decorated with sculptures of Hindu deities. The sculptures depict episodes from the two great epics -
Ramayana and
Mahabharata. A picturesque view of the whole town is available from the top of the tower.
