Nawalgarh

Located 25 km to the north of Sikar, Nawalgarh, the city of Havelis, derives its name from Thakur Nawal Singh who founded it in the year 1737. The city is enriched with beautifully designed and carved havelis. Since Nawalgarh is full of exquisitely painted havelis, it is rightly referred to as the Open Air Gallery. The mansions or havelis are decorated with ornate iron amd brass fittings and marvelous murals which center around the themes related to the life and times of Lord Krishna.

Anandilal Poddar Haveli, Jodhraj Patodia Haveli, Bansidar Bhagat Haveli, Chokhani Haveli, the Eight Haveli complex, Chhawchhariya Haveli, Morarka Haveli, Hem Raj Kulwal Haveli, Bhagton Ki Haveli, and Khedwal Bhavan are the mansions worthy of visit. Local attractions include the British Clock Tower, Ganga Mai temple and Roop Niwas Palace. The ideal time to visit Nawalgarh is between the months of September and March.

Nawalgarh Railway Station is the nearest railway station and the closest airport is Sanganer Airport. Buses connect Nawalgarh with Dundlod (8 km), Sikar, Fatehpur (30 km) and Udaipur(142 km).
