Kalbelias are a tribe of traditional snake trappers, tamers and charmers in
Rajasthan. They belong to nomadic Jogi castes. This tribal community worships Lord
Shiva and follows the yoga system of philosophy.
Usually, men are snake charmers and women are dancers who can perform charming snake movements. Kalbelia Dance is popular among them. A major portion of Kalbelias is found in south
Marwar, former princely state.
