Sun Temple, situated in the heart of Jhalrapatan in
Rajasthan, is famous for a shikhara (peak of a temple) which is 96 ft from the ground. The temple is orthogonal and has a sanctum, vestibule and rangamandapa or pillared hall.
This 11th century temple belongs to the Bhumija category. Its shikhara has a pair of half-leaning spires over the central ratha with turrets. This temple introduces elaborate toranas at the entrance at the porch and two bands of sculptures on the wall.
