Alwar District




Alwar District is in the north-eastern part of Rajasthan. It is bounded in the north-east by Gurgaon District of Haryana and Bharatpur District, in the north-west by Mahendragarh District, in the south-west by Jaipur District, and in the south by Sawai Madhopur and Jaipur districts. The total area is 8,380 sq km. The main languages spoken are Hindi, Punjabi, and Rajasthani. Hinduism is the main religion.

Alwar has a dry climate with hot summer, a short monsoon season, and a cold winter. The normal annual rainfall is 57 cm. Major crops include wheat, rapeseed, mustard, pulses, gram, jowar, maize, sugarcane, sesamum, red chilies, paddy, barley, and groundnut.

The biggest railway station is Alwar Railway Station. The nearest is Sanganer Airport at Jaipur. Alwar fort, Alwar Teerth, Purjan Vihar, Moosi Maharani Chhatri, Ajabgarh, Tijara, Vinay Vilas Mahal, Sariska wildlife sanctuary, Siliserh, and Vijay Mandir Palace are the prime attractions.
