Gangor Puja is a ceremonial dance of
Haryana. It is generally performed in the lunar month of Phalgun or Chait and is played by women to invoke the blessings of the gods for good harvest. Sometimes, Gangor Puja is performed in the form of a Kirtan, associated with the love of
Lord Shiva and
Parvati. The performers wear colorful costumes and jewelry and carry brass jars on their heads while performance. They move in circle and perform in tune to the music. A devotional song is sung during performance and one of the vital elements of this dance is the smile of the dancers.
