Blue Jay (Cyanocitta cristata) is a bright blue noisy bird of about 25 to 28 cm in length. It is bright blue above with heavy black and white shades in the wings and tail. It has a gray-blue crest on its head and a white bar on its wings and tail. The bill, legs and feet are black. There is a conspicuous black ‘necklace’ on its lower throat.
The bird sings different songs and can imitate other birds. It feeds on other birds' eggs, acorns, fruit, nuts and insects.
Blue Jay can be seen in the Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary, Karnataka.
