Ajmer District is located in the center of
Rajasthan. It is bounded in the north by
Nagaur District, in the south by
Bhilwara District, in the east by
Jaipur and
Tonk districts and in the west by
Pali District. Ajmer has a total area of 8,481 sq km, and is triangular shape.
The range of hills through Ajmer marks the dividing watershed of the continent of India. The
Banganga, Gambhir, and Rupard are the important rivers. Normal annual rainfall is 60 cm. Major crops are bajra, wheat, barley, groundnut, jowar, maize, paddy, red chilies, and sesamum. Livestock population constitutes cattle, buffaloes, sheep, goats, donkeys and mules, horses and ponies, camels, and pigs.

Sindhi are the main languages spoken. The nearest airport is Jaipur at a distance of 138 km.
Main attractions are the tomb of Sufi Saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti, the Ana Sagar Lake,
Daulat Bagh, Foy Sagar, Taragarh Fort, and the Nasiyan Jain temple built in the 19th century. The Urs celebrations are held in the seventh month of every year.
