Bagru, a small town situated in
Jaipur District of
Rajasthan, is renowned for its textile block printing. Natural colors derived from vegetables are used.
Imprints are made with wooden blocks containing engraved designs. Usually dark and vibrant shades are employed on red or black background. The patterns are most often of zigzag nature but this printing process is noted more for its circular designs. Bagru printing is used mostly in decorating bed sheets, tablecloths and other similar furnishing fabrics.
