Shiv Mandir is situated at Gur Mandir, near
Jalandhar, in
Punjab. This shrine, which dates back to the Lodhi era, is believed to have been built by the Nawab of Sultanpur Lodhi, near
Imam Nasir Masjid.
Folklore is that once the Nawab wanted a newly married Hindu woman to make an object of his lust. She then worshipped Lord Shiva and lord in the form of a serpent saved her. The Nawab apologized to the girl and built this temple on her behest.
This temple is a blend of Muslim-Hindu architecture. A unique feature of this temple is that its main gate is erected in the style of a mosque while the rest of the building is in Hindu style.
